First Impressions of the First Episode of Ultraman Arc 2024

First episode Ultraman Arc aired in Japan on July 6, 2024. The episode is titled Arc Towards the Future, directed by Takanori Tsujimoto and written by Jun Tsugita. This episode also marks the first appearance of Ultraman Arc. Overall, the first episode for the series seems fresh in terms of story and presentation.

Ultraman Arc First Episode Synopsis

The first episode of Ultraman Arc tells the story of Yuma Hize who has a strong desire to protect everyone. As a rookie investigator at SKIP, the Kaiju Scientific Investigation and Prevention Center, he works hard every day in his job to prevent, investigate, and deal with kaiju disasters. Then one day, Shu Ishido of the GDF (Global Defense Force) appears. They soon find themselves in danger while chasing the kaiju Shagong. That's when "he" appears in front of Yuma.

Ultraman Arc First Episode Plot

The first episode of Ultraman Arc tells the story of a certain city, Hoshimoto City. A large, conspicuous object stands out on Mount Shishio in the city. Called the “Monohorn,” it is actually a “monster horn” that has been stuck there since an incident 16 years ago. Ever since the incident known as “K-DAY,” when monsters appeared simultaneously all over the world, monster disasters have become commonplace, and in Japan, the Earth Defense Forces have been using force to deal with the monsters.

Meanwhile, the Kaiju Scientific Investigation and Prevention Center (SKIP) is engaged in scientific research and evacuation guidance in the local area to prevent the emergence and worsening of monster disasters. Yuma, who was seven years old at the time, was camping with his parents on Mount Shishio when he encountered a Monogeros attack, but miraculously survived unharmed. After growing up, Yuma was accepted into SKIP as a new investigator and assigned to the Hoshimoto City branch.

The cast of the first episode of Ultraman Arc is Yuma Hize played by Yuki Totsuka, Shu Ishido played by Sho Kaneta, Rin Natsume played by Kaho Mizutani, Hiroshi Ban played by Koichiro Nishi, Akari Inui played by Hinako Tanaka, YouPi voiced by Yuya Hirose, and Ultraman Arc voiced by Masato Hagiwara.

Ultraman Arc First Episode Review 

The interesting thing about the first episode of Ultraman Arc is that there are two organizations in the Ultraman Arc series, namely SKIP and GDF. Unlike GDF, which mainly uses force to fight the kaiju threat, SKIP focuses on scientific investigation and preventive measures. At the end of the episode, a GDF staff is assigned to the Hoshimoto branch of SKIP to deal with the kaiju threat.

In addition, the presence of a parasitic alien organism species called Oo-ze also attracts attention. Oo-ze is an alien creature that parasitizes space Kaiju and eats calcium carbonate as a source of nutrition. Oo-ze attaches itself to Monogelos and heads to Earth. After Shagong was defeated by Ultraman Arc, Mother Oo-ze tried to escape but was eventually stopped. Will Oo-ze play an important role in the next Ultraman Arc story?

The transformation scene for Ultraman Arc looks interesting with the transformation tool emerging from within Yuma Hize. Yuma Hize's transformation into Ultraman Arc in this episode is not the first time. After that, the battle between Ultraman Arc and Shagong is seen from Shu Ishido's camera angle. The roles of the SKIP members are also seen in this episode, especially YouPi who is able to split himself for various investigation tasks into You and Pi.

Ultraman Arc is the 34th entry of the Ultra Series, created by Tsuburaya Productions. The series tells the story of Yuma who joined SKIP and was assigned to the Hoshimoto City Branch. Not long after, another large-scale kaiju disaster occurred. As Yuma looked at the desperate people in front of him, a strong determination emerged in his mind. It was at that moment that Yuma heard the voice of Rution, a being of light he had seen when he was a child.

Ultraman Arc episode 2 titled Legend in the Forest aired on July 13, 2024 and tells the story of a construction site clearing a forest and discovering what is thought to be an ancient ruin. When Hayato, the son of the site manager, anxiously warns Yuma that the construction is in danger, the legend of the forest is revealed.
